This year we plan to visit the Northern Cape’s Orania town as well as Kimberley hole and museums. Orania is an Afrikaner-only South African town located along the Orange River in the arid Karoo region of Northern Cape province. Kimberley is the capital of the Northern Cape Province of South Africa. The city has considerable historical significance due to its diamond mining past and the siege during the Second Boer War. Gariep Dam - Its primary purpose is for irrigation, domestic and industrial use as well as for power generation.
Day 1: From 07h00 : Distance for the day : 472km
We travel via the N12 to Kimberley through Potchefstroom, Klerksdorp, Wolmaranstad and Bloemhof. Lunch will be enjoyed in one of these towns. After lunch continue with the scenic drive to Kimberley to arrive in time for a visit to the big hole and the Kimberley Mine Museum. Dinner and overnight at Kimberley Anne small luxury hotel.
Day 2: 08h00 : Distance for the day : 161km
After breakfast we depart for Orania. This is a short drive but this little Afrikaner community is interesting and on our arrival we will do a tour of the town with a local Guide. Rest of the afternoon exploring the town of Orania. We stay over at Orania Oewer Hotel & Spa next to the Orange river.
Day 3: From 08h30 : Distance for the day : 234km
It is time to focus on the natural beauty of the area. During the morning, we travel to the Gariep and look for Blue Cranes on the way. We spend our last night at the De Stijl hotel and visit the Gariep wall.
Day 4: From 08h00 : Distance for the day : 396km
This is our last day and after breakfast we travel to Bloemfontein where we visit the Womens Memorial and museum. Lunch at the Museum before we travel along the N1 to Johannesburg. Arrive in Johannesburg late afternoon
