This second flower trip is to save time travelling and flying to Cape Town from Johannesburg and back. We will visit the region of Namaqualand and the West Coast that transforms into a kaleidoscope of colour.
DAY 1: 29 August
Pickup early from your home for your flight to Cape Town. On arrival at the Cape town airport you will be met by your guide and depart north for our first overnight in Langebaan, visiting the West Coast national Park in the afternoon.
Day 2: 30 August
After breakfast we travel via the Knersvlakte and stop for lunch in Garies We have time to enjoy the harsh beauty of the an area that appears to be a wasteland at first sight, but in fact is home to one of the richest flowering succulent populations on earth.
We arrive at Kamieskroon, a small village just off the main road, chosen as our base because it’s the geographical center of Namaqualand’s best flower areas. We will overnight here for 3 nights. Dinner at the Hotel
Day 3: 31 August We will visit the Skilpad Section of the Namaqua National Park. We spend as much time as possible among the flowers and return to the hotel for some free time before dinner.
Day 4: 1 September
On one of the days we visit the Springbok area with its massive granite domes and multitude of quiver trees. Lunch at the Springbok Lodge
We visit the Goegap Nature Reserve, with its Hester Malan Succulent Garden and seasonal flower displays
We return to Kamieskroon for dinner.
DAY 5: 2 September
After breakfast we will travel south to Clanwilliam. On the way we stop at Klawer Wine Cellar for a wine and rooibos food pairing. Visit the Ramskop Nature Reserve with lunch in town and a visit to the Strassbergers Leather Shop and Rooibos promotional shop where there is an audio visual presentation on the history, production and health properties as well as an extensive product range on sale. Overnight in Clanwilliam with dinner.
Day 6: 3 September
Depart for Cape Town International Airport after breakfast. On arrival back in Johannesburg you will be transferred to your home.
