Day 1:            Gariep dam (14 March, Sunday)

To get to all these lovely places we need to cover some distance on the first day. It will be the longest day of driving, but fortunately on a lovely highway.  We will travel along the N1 route via Kroonstad and Bloemfontein to the Gariep dam, where we stay over at the very comfortable De Stijl Gariep Hotel. 

Day 2:  Graaf Reinett    (15 March, Monday)

With the long drive now behind us, we can now start experiencing the lovely scenery of the Great Karoo.  We will travel via the towns of Noupoort and Middelburg, and over the Lootsberg Pass towards Graaff-Reinett. Once over the pass, we take a detour towards the charming town of Nieu- Bethesda. Guests will be taken around town on a donkey cart (If available). Jacob will tell you about the history and lovely stories of the town. After lunch we also visit the world famous Owl House. We then drive back towards the main road and on to Graaff- Reinett where we check into the Hotel for a 2 night stay.

Day 3: Graaf Reinett      (16 March, Tuesday)

The frontier town of Graaff-Reinett is a museum on its own- with many buildings, churches and houses declared as heritage sites. It also has wonderful museums and art galleries. We will spend today visiting these fantastic sites, and learning about the history of the town. In the late afternoon we will travel to the Valley of Desolation, to view the great and open-ness of the region. We will also view a wonderful Karoo sunset before returning to town. Dinner in town

Day 4: Port Alfred   (17 March, Wednesday)

We will be moving on today to another frontier region.  On route today, we will also drive via the lovely towns of Pearston, Somerset East and Bathurst. On arrival in Port Alfred, we will check into the Royal Guesthouse for 3 nights. The guesthouse is located on a hill overlooking the Kowie River, and with views of the ocean.    

Day 5+ 6: Port Alfred          (18/19 March, Thursday & Friday)

We will also visit the coastal towns of Kenton on Sea and Boesmansriviermond with their blue flag beaches. On one of the days we will also take a boat trip on the Kowie River.  Overnight: Guesthouse

Day 7: Addo Elephant Park (20 March, Saturday)

After a last relaxing breakfast overlooking the river we travel along the coast and then inland towards the Addo Elephant Park.  Around midday we will do our first drive into this wonderful park. After spending good time in the park, we exit at the gate, from where we travel for a short distance towards the Lupus Den Guesthouse. It is situated on a citrus farm on the outskirts of Addo. We will be staying here for the last 2 nights of the trip. Two wonderful dinners will be enjoyed at the farm, and we will also do a very informative tour of the citrus farm with the owner.    

Day 8: Addo Elephant Park (21 March, Sunday)

Both days are set out to visit the Addo National Park.  We will visit this wonderful park at various times, and enter it from different gates to ensure we cover the whole park.Overnight: Guesthouse 

Day 9: End of Itinerary (22 March, Monday)

After a last breakfast on the farm it is time to travel to Port Elizabeth Airport for the return flight to Johannesburg. It will be around 12h30. You will again be met at the airport, and transferred home.
