During August and September, the region of Namaqualand and the West Coast transforms into a kaleidoscope of colour which is brought on by the wildflowers of the area after the winter rains. The trips are real speciality trips, designed to visit many of these wonderful sights.
Day 1: Thursday 18 August
We depart early morning from Johannesburg. En route to Kimberley. Breakfast/brunch on the route. On arrival in Kimberley, we visit the Big Hole before dinner and overnight at a Guesthouse.
Day 2: Friday 19 August
After breakfast, we depart towards Calvinia. On route, we will have rest stops at some of the small towns. On arrival in Calvinia, check into our Guesthouse and then go and look for flowers. Dinner and overnight in Calvinia.
Day 3: Saturday 20 August
We depart for Nieuwoudtville where we will visit the Hantam Botanical Garden, the Nieuwoudtville Waterfall. Lunch will be in town. Arriving in VanRhynsdorp late afternoon at Letsatsi Lodge for 3 nights. Dinner at Letsatsi.
Day 4: Sunday 21 August
After breakfast, we travel slowly north towards Kamieskroon. This is where we visit the famous Skilpad Wildflower Reserve with its spectacular display of Namaqualand daisies. We spend quality time in this spectacular reserve before we travel back to VanRhynsdorp. Dinner at Letsatsi
Day 5: Monday 22 August
We explore Doringbaai and Lutzville today with some wine tasting and lunch at Doringbaai. Returning to VanRhynsdorp in the afternoon to relax, dinner at Letsatsi.
Day 6: Tuesday 23 August
Today we travel southward to Clanwilliam to visit the town and the beautiful Ramskop Wildflower Garden. After spending quality time in these magnificent gardens, it is time for lunch in town and we then depart for Paternoster for the next 2 nights.
Day 7: Wednesday 24 August
Today we continue to explore the wonders of the West Coast, travelling along the coastline towards Saldanha Bay and Langebaan where we will visit the Westcoast National Park. Returning to Paternoster for dinner and our last night.
Day 8: Thursday 25 August
Depart after breakfast so that you are in time for your flight departure from Cape Town to Johannesburg. On arrival in Johannesburg, you will be met by a colleague and transferred back home.
